'Some things are just better left the way they are.'

Ray-ban Original Wayfarer 2140 Sunglasses and Topshop Preppy Textured Cardigan

I have to say that this photo on it's own is stunning. Not for any reason but the mere fact that is was not choreographed. Olivia Palermo looks simple yet statement-al with the preppy careless look (a look I adore) as the bow seems to tie the look together. This outfit could have taken a different turn if just one of the items where removed or replaced, however, she seems to have managed to get the just the right amount simple without becoming bland.

Title is a quote by Lauren Conrad

Keeping to that note, I went to the shop today to purchase the new issue of Teen Vogue. To my little surprise (and bigger joy) ,Lauren Conrad's fresh face emerged from behind the clutter of several other teen magazines. There is something about her look that I have to love and the Fact or Fiction page, showing her in a cute Chloe mini dress, emphasised on my point. Simple and elegant is always the way to go. Tell me what you think.

'Hollywood amuses me. Holier-than-thou for the public and unholier-than-the-devil in reality'

Grace Kelly

I recently went to the Grace Kelly exhibition in Victoria & Albert Museum and funnily enough, I was weirdly disappointed but in a positive way. If there is one thing that should be noticed about Grace Kelly is her odd success in making no statement a statement. While I was there I silently strolled around each dress, accessory and shoe that had been carefully placed in perfect lighting for each guest to see. However, what I was waiting for was something that stood out and caught my eye that made her undoubtedly a fashion legend but I failed to find this. This is what made me more interested in her fashion sense. Can not trying to stand out be the best way to do it?

Taken during a trip to Jamaica with her sister in 1955.

What made Grace Kelly's style and elegance so potent was probably also down to the fact that she NEVER WENT WRONG. I think it is safe to say, for every fashionista with an outstanding fashion sense and outrageous looks, there is a point where people can definitely say that they shouldn't of left their home that day. By keeping it classic and understated it was virtually impossible for her to be caught out looking less than wonderful. This was her big statement. The photos above are perfect example of her looking natural yet glamorous.

"The thing that made her stand out is what we call 'style'."McCall's magazine, 1955

As I got further down the the exhibition another thing struck me; she left everything to the imagination. While woman were revealing what they could without revealing everything, Grace liked her necklines high and the hems of her skirt to waver between her knee and her ankles. This is something I adored as the majority of my clothes do not touch my knee, not for any particular reason other than the fact that clothing stores (including vintage) have no made skirts collect dirt of the ground or resemble an oversized belt. I for one have not complained but my mum being the devoted Christian that she is has sent me to my room to change countless number of times.

The next time you dig into your wardrobe looking for that outfit that will turn heads when you walk into room why not do the later and bear in mind, Hollwood actress to Princess of Monaco, Grace Kelly and how she managed to do this without having to think about that. I pose this question once more... Can not trying to stand out be the best way to do it?

A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, and the lawn mower is broken.

BY SHAN S., TEXTILE ARTIST/ONLINE BOUTIQUE OWNER/CRAFT TEACHER/BLOGGER FROM OSAKA

On Saturday I went to revise for my up coming tests. Some how, after hours of revision and very tired brain cells, me and my friends managed to maneuver our way to the shopping centre. This was actually quite great because there is nothing like retail therapy (besides reading and art but those are different satisfactions that come under the same genre to me). On this spree we managed to end up in a designer shoe store and I managed to start a topic on how I dislike cloggs and how overrated they are. In my attempt to convince my friends to agree... I tried on a pair and that was the downfall to my debate. I couldn't find any that were hideous looking so I just tried on any - they looked rather similar to the ones in the picture above. To keep the story short, once a pair of cloggs like these are on your feet I guarantee you will be satisfied... there is actually a place were comfort and your feet looking spectacular meet (other than wedges) and cloggs are that equilibrium. Sometimes it is great to have a change of heart. :)

"Memory is a way of holding onto the things you love, the things you are, the things you never want to lose."

I was thinking over last year and I still believe Louis Vuittons 2009 fall collection is something to remember, it is not 'extra-ordinary' but it is something that will never go out of date for me. The main reason I love it is because I don't usually find a whole catwalk collection that I wouldn't mind being my wardrobe - it is usually just a minute amount that I would take if I could but this is a collection I would put in a suitcase and run off with. I actually have an image of one of the dresses in this collection plastered against my collage of pages from magazines.

The Ragged Priest

This is the image of the first vintage dress I have ever bought (on the model). It's from the 1950's and I bought it from an online store called 'The Ragged Priest'. You should really check it out! Not only is everything in the store vintage but everything is recycled including the packaging. And what made everything even sweeter was the little vintage postcard that came with it that I can either recycle or send back, when I have a few more, in exchange for something else... I think I might make a collage.

Marry And Be Faithful

Marianne Faithfull

Marianne Faithfull is without doubt one of the best rock muses of the late 1960's. From looking sweet to being a rock legend, her fashion and style will never go out of date. The main reason why I like her fashion is probably because I see more than just her clothes, she brought rock and prep into the same light and that is something I do with my clothes very often (well not to the standard of her).

Fashions fade, style is eternal.

In London it's just turning into spring. Atleast that is what science says is telling me however, the weather still seems to have bi-polar.

BY SHAE ACOPIAN D., 32 YEAR OLD PHOTOGRAPHY STUDENT FROM NYC

There is something I love so much about Shae's outfits and the picture in general. She seems to take simplicity and non conformity to a new level. She is clearly in love with vintage, and now so am I.

The other day my friend asked me a question, 'How could you buy vinatge, wouldn't you be scared the person before may have died in it?'

I looked at her puzzled, near speechless and looking for an answer. When I finally replied I came up with 'I guess that's just a risk people are willing to take!'.

I've left my head and my heart on the dancefloor.

I know you wouldn't walk down the street in some of the things she wears but anyone who can make Beyonce look normal and unsexy... is a legend. Lady Gaga's music video really got some jaws dropping and I guess the rumors of her being a hermaphrodite are squashed. You will never understand what I am saying till you watch it yourself, make sure you have 10 minutes of spare time ahead.

I lover her over the top outfits and twists on well everything. I don't understand why people get so emotional about her dressing - it's getting her the money and attention she wants so who's stopping her, certainly not me.

Unimmunity!

For 14 years I thought I was a bionic girl who was immune to catching any form of diseases, virus or allergy. I was the only child in probably the whole school who hadn't missed a day of school (which is probably the real reason I get good marks)and I was quite proud of myself... sadly the streak is no more. I understand that I am a non-conformist and I do my own thing but why did my immune system decide it wanted to have the weirdest of allergies I could think of... if you haven't guessed it - which I highly doubt you have - I'm allergic to the rain. Well probably something in the rain but we don't need to go all chemistry on it, I've had enough of that with my science GCSE test coming up next week. It all started one day I was walking to church and I forgot my umbrella but couldn't be bothered to anything about it so I just kept walking while droplets of death fell down from the sky. My skin became all itchy, red and loads of bumps and patches started to form all over. So when I got to church I looked for a doctor who explained it to me. Then that was the end of it I did nothing about it and thought nothing about it. If you are a Londoner or Essex girl like I am both of then you would know that it's been raining everyday lately, I never actually thought anything of it besides that I did not want to get wet... but for some reason my ears started itching then my eyes then my nose then eventually I started coughing and things started gradually getting worse. I've never had allergies before so I wouldn't actually think anything of it besides that I most have a cold. So yesterday me being the naive teenager that I am I decided to walk in the rain again (it was only really light droplets) but then my skin went itchy. Memories started to flood back and that was when I realized... I'm having a allergic reaction. Anytime soon I should be on my way to the doctor. I guess I won't be having any of those movie moments in the rain anytime soon.

“I think everything happens for a reason, so there is no such thing as fail.”

]

I must say I love Mary-Kate Olsen, I really do, but this dress is something i'm not a very big fan of. She looks hot in nearly everything and I love her inconformity but sometimes we just forget there is a line and that line can be crossed. Just make sure you look 100 % hot when you do decide to...

Quote by The Mary-Kate herself.

"When I was a teenager, I was really angry at the world, a true rebel."

A day with my new camera in a friends house

Sometimes I forget that I am just a teenager and teenagers should be doing teenagery things and not worrying twenty for seven about what university I'll be going to or what I am going to be in the future. I know I shouldn't leave it entirely up to 'Future Precious' either no matter how awesome she may be for all the stuff she will have to deal with because I just have no time to deal with it now. I must get her a present one of these days. Haha!

The front of a law firm in Liverpool Street (London)

It's weird how when your a teenager being in a relationship is the most time consuming, desired but yet most awkward thing ever. Now that I actual think about it all the people that tell me what to do and how to act and blah have as much as a clue as I do since they are the same age as me and going through the same things. We're all just hormone driven, confused people with no experience walking around like zombies on speed thinking we know it all. I can't wait until I'm matured and can actually look back and think 'Ha! I was so stupid' and crindge at all the embarrassing photos, video and memories that would of accumulated over the years.

I Was Born To Tell You I Love You!

I know I am a little late but that was probably because I was annoyed by all the roses and loved up people while I was on the train. Weirdly enough i don't know why since I was asked out the day before by a guy I've had a crush on for about 8 months AND I love roses and anything romantic.

Honestly I have to say she does look cute And heck! Every holiday is a reason to put on an outfit that would be embarrassing at any other time of the year, that's what they are made for... right?

LOOKBOOK.nu:

Last year was going to be the first time I was going out for valentines day. That ended up as a massive fail. The day before I wasn't going into school so I sent the guy a text saying 'I'm not coming in' and he translated that to 'I'm not going with you anymore'. As you must of figured I was left standing outside of the cinema screening for quite a while, feeling very embarrassed.

What is Fashion?

LOOKBOOK.nu:

Honestly and truelly... this question is something I wonder everyday. Style does not actually have any rules and people interpret things to be different. One person might like weating orange socks with a red skirt while someone else (including me) would find that revolting. So who makes up the rules? And who decided what right or wrong? And why are we all so different yet so the same?

LOOKBOOK.nu:

Even the people who say they do not care about fashion, at the back of their minds they also do. At the end of the day when you wake up in the morning and you feel fat and dull you will wear something totally different to when you feel sexy and cofident... that's just human nature.

LOOKBOOK.nu:

"Fashion is a state of mind. A spirit, an extension of one's self. Fashion talks, it can be an understated whisper, a high-energy scream or an all knowing wink and a smile. Most of all fashion is about being comfortable with yourself, translating self-esteem into a personal style."

LOOKBOOK.nu:

"It's just clothes, get the f over it!"

Overated things fade away has fashion been here as long as man has existed because it is not just clothes. So it is not overatted it is what it is. a way of expressing your self and being different from others. You can express your mood, your style, your intrest and generally anything with it.

But honestly who makes it what it is? YOU!

And She'll Take Her Clothes Off and It Will Be Shameless

When Lily sang her song 'The Fear' she did say 'And I'll take my clothes off and it will be shameless, Cause everyone knows that's how you get famous' so no surprise that she has yet another image to add to her collection of nipples. I must admit she really does look stunning.

Accessorizing with devil horns and a cigarette was a great way of adding her own touch to l'art de nudité. She also calls her naked self "a funny looking thing.

Honestly with the style of her photos and her personal image. I think she could of got the same attention and still look very hot without showing a thing. She did look great and very original though.

Once You Go Black, You Never Go Back

What I don't understand is why people have a strong dislike for the Gothic fashion. It is not always ugly platform boots and chains linking from your nose to your ear. I actually believe pulling off wearing all black (or mostly) actually requires real fashion sense and creativity. Most people rely on the colours to let the outfit speak but if it is just one then you can not rely on anything but your self to make it look right.

LOOKBOOK.nu:

The problem with wearing black is the fact that you can easily get sucked into the outfit where it seems like your head is floating.

LOOKBOOK.nu:

The great thing is it will make you look slimmer and statement pieces are much easier to make like a belt with a gold buckle or red shoes. Reason: there is nothing else to take the attention away from it! Fabulous.

Fill the gap between the heel and the sole

This season I am totally in love with ankle boots. If no one else wants to join me I'm happy to flaunt it on my own. My favorite ankle boots right now besides the baroque heels I bought(Which I will post up once my camera gets fixed or I get a new one) recently are wedged shoe boots . The best thing about them are that you can wear them any time of day, any weather, at any occasion because you can never dress too casual or too formal for them - Perfect!

The the number one rule to remember when making a statement with your shoes is to never think by going over the top you are making a statement, you could just be making a fool of yourself. Be Your Own Snow White

LOOKBOOK.nu:

In the UK the snow is getting really bad. If you know people from the UK, then you would know that when it gets really cold we love just to curl up with a cup of coffee on the sofa and watch our favorite television programs on repeat or get our massive puff jackets, that are too hideous to look at, from the back of our wardrobes and roll in the snow for a while. Even though that does sound fun there is always a way to get creative, no matter the weather. After all what were thick tights, gloves and jumper dresses made for?

One Size Fits All

V magazine has got everyone in the fashion industry's lips moving and it is just the start of 2010. Their new year issue named 'The Size Issue' took a new turn from skinny cover girls like Natalie Portman and moving the attention to 'plus-size' models.

V learnt a new lesson this month with their new campaign, that even with the best of intentions things can still backfire. Their attempt to portray a no matter your size your just as beautiful image was very distorted. Questions emerged on why the two models (Jacquelyn Jablonski and plus-size model Crystal Renn) had to be compared and if using Crystal Renn alone would of given the same effect.

In all fairness V magazine did try to make a stand for what they believe is right. And it is right to think every size should be treated the same. Without the comparison we wouldn't realize that a plus size and general model can look just as beautiful as each other.

Personally, I think its about time 'plus' size models got their turn in the limelight. I put plus in quotation because, with all truth, plus size models are just normal size people who have been branded because they do not comply with the fashion standards of being stick thin. However, models should be mixed. Telling a girl that she is 'too skinny' is just as bad as telling another she is 'too fat'. My interpretation of their campaign is not just to highlight that 'plus size' is beauty but that models and people should be treated equally regardless of their body size - so the comparison was needed.

Designers, photographers and ect listen up - look for the right look not the size!

Christina Aguilera in Marie Claire February 2010

Christina strikes a pose on a grand piano for Marie Claire February 2010 looking the cutest she possibly could for the first time in her musical life.

I had a really hard time being light before. I’d get a little weird about it being too cliché. My first record was very clichéd pop - what everyone else wanted. [My second album Stripped] inspired by a lot of pain. [My third, Back to Basics,] /still had some sort of relation to my past. [My new album] is just about the future - my son in my life, motivating me to want to play and have fun.

I love the sexy innocent look she has got going on and I know we all want it to stay. She's given up her 'wanna be dirrty!' days and is now dare I say sexy and fashionable appose to hot MILF. You go girl!
